The school was found in April 1974. In the beginning, it was used as the central hostel for all visually impaired students from all over Malaysia including Brunei in the Integrated Plan for Secondary Schools in Kuala Lumpur.

Starting from the year of 1977 the school changed it’s role to accommodate special education for the visually impaired students who are weak in academic and mobility.

On the 26th June of 1980, our school was officially opened by Dato’ Musa Hitam, the Malaysian Education Minister of that time.

Nowadays, students from form 1 to form 5 learn and live in our school. However, for the form 6 students they only live in the our school’s hostel but went for their classes at Saint John Secondary School.

Our school is still the only secondary school for the visually impaired in the Malaysian education system.
